Learning in Flow™ is both the social/emotional and academic
program for temporary placement education environments.
Learning in Flow™ "occurs when we are actively involved in challenging tasks that stretch our physical or mental abilities” (Brophy 2004).
A progressively learner-centered model where students deeply
engage in meaningful, authentic, and vigorous challenges to demonstrate desired outcomes.
Learners are given the opportunity to value diversity. Through individualized instruction, the focus of Learning in Flow™ is on learner-centered practices that develop executive functioning skills; such as setting and achieving goals. The very nature of achieving goals builds self-confidence and one's love of what is being done. In essence, unlocking one's potential.
The increasingly competent executive functioning of children and adolescents enables them to plan and act in a way that makes them good students, classroom citizens, and friends.
In turn, this helps them grow into adults capable of juggling a multitude of commitments, such as parenting, employment, continuing education, and civic involvement. Even health is affected, as strong executive function helps people stick to healthy habits and reduce stress. The more a society invests in building the executive functioning of its children, the greater dividends it will see in the future.
SEL helps youth develop healthy identities, manage emotions, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain supportive relationships, and make caring, responsible decisions.
Project-based learning (PBL) is a learner-centered approach that involves a dynamic classroom approach in which it is believed that students acquire a deeper knowledge through active exploration of real-world challenges and problems.
Provides learners with effective ways to help calm anxious nervous systems while providing supportive relationships, nurturing experiences, and positive learning environments.
