The Why?

As a special education educator and mother who has witnessed the profound impact of trauma on brain development, I felt a deep need to help children in challenging situations ground themselves through executive functioning and social-emotional skills. My extensive research led to the creation of Learning in Flow™, a program that integrates the most effective educational philosophies from the past and present, paving the way for future learning—especially for those facing difficulties.

Originally designed for learners in crisis, Learning in Flow™ has proven beneficial for all students who experience it. Recently, the program was piloted in a public school Gifted and Talented class, where it achieved outstanding success. Students reported feeling more engaged, empowered, and capable of managing their learning journeys.

Learning in Flow™ offers student agency through an individualized, learner-centered, and inquiry-facilitated curriculum. It incorporates gratitude practices, mindfulness, executive functioning, and social-emotional skill training. The curriculum aligns with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), ensuring that it meets rigorous academic standards. Rubrics, which can be customized to align with your school, state, or governing board's standards, assess the entire learning process, with many evaluations conducted by students themselves to foster professionalism.

This adaptable curriculum is ideal for short-term placements such as hospitals, PHP/IOPs, and discipline settings, but it can also be seamlessly integrated into content-driven curricula to enrich the educational experience while developing essential life skills. The framework and delivery methods are flexible, allowing for customization to meet your campus's specific needs.
